Introduction

What is a Pilgrimage?

A journey to a sacred place that creates space for reflection, healing, and deeper understanding
Pilgrimage is one of humanity's oldest practices for reflection, renewal, and transformation.

Across cultures and traditions, people have left the familiarity of home and travelled to sacred places in search of healing, guidance, clarity, meaning, or a deeper connection with life. But pilgrimage is more than simply travelling to a sacred destination.

It is an opportunity to step away from the momentum of everyday life, encounter the unfamiliar, and create space to reflect on what truly matters.

Pilgrimage does not have to be necessarily undertaken on foot; the journey can be made by driving, cycling, trains, public transport, or any other means. The essence lies in the intention with which we make the journey, not how we travel.

At Skanda, Pilgrimage is a pause from the momentum of everyday life,
that heals and transforms us.  It is an outer journey that leads to an inner journey, and plays a significant role in Spirituality.

Why Pilgrimage?

What Makes Pilgrimages Powerful?

It is the unique combination of stepping away from the familiar, entering meaningful places, moving through nature and challenge, and creating space to turn our attention inward.

When those conditions are created, Pilgrimages influence and help us:

Free The Mind and See Life Differently

Pilgrimage takes us out of our usual routines, responsibilities, and identities. This deliberate distance creates space to slow down, reflect on our choices, relationships, priorities, and the direction we are taking.

Release What We Carry

The rhythm of walking, time in nature, silence, and the challenges of the journey can bring thoughts and emotions to the surface. Things we have been carrying quietly, such as fear, grief, anger, longing, or unresolved experiences may become easier to notice and work through.

Make Peace With Our Past

The space created by pilgrimage can allow us to revisit experiences we may have been carrying for years. It can open the possibility of forgiveness of another person, of ourselves, or of what happened, and help us loosen the hold of the past.

Gain new insights about ourselves

The journey does not always give us what we expect. The people we meet, the places we encounter, the beauty of nature, and the difficulties we face can all become teachers, revealing something about ourselves that we may not have seen before.

In 2023, he undertook Andean Meditation Tour, travelling across the Andes through four countries and numerous cities, exploring, sharing meditation and yoga along the way.

“Mountains have taught me humility, and rivers have taught me to let go.

Some of the deepest lessons of my life have come not from people or books, but simply from being present in the places I’ve travelled.”

Ronnie

“Some of my pilgrimages have unexpectedly been work trips to certain holy places, with no spiritual intention at all.

But as I wandered through those places and watched life unfold, something shifted within me. I found myself asking questions about deeper questions of life"
